A handmade, etched singing bowl made of a bronze alloy with trace amounts of noble metals (such as Ag, Ni, Cd, Ru, Pd, Pt, Cr, Mn), laser-engraved and hand-painted.
The interior shows Medicine Buddha seated on a lotus throne in a calm, upright posture, with one hand extended in a gesture of generosity and the other resting in his lap holding a bowl of healing nectar. Around him is a detailed aureole with radiating lines and ornamental patterns. The inner wall is decorated with eight medallions containing the traditional Eight Auspicious Symbols, complemented by dharma wheels, endless knots, lotus motifs and bands of Tibetan mantras.
Medicine Buddha – Healing and Restoration
The image represents Medicine Buddha, the embodiment of healing and the alleviation of suffering. His serene presence and the bowl of healing nectar symbolise restoration, balance and the wish to relieve physical and mental discomfort. The surrounding auspicious symbols underline themes of protection, vitality and the skilful application of compassion, making this bowl particularly suitable for meditation and sound work focused on healing, regeneration and inner stability.
Underside and Exterior
The outside of the bowl features cloud and wave motifs, circular mantra panels and ornamental borders. The underside carries a large, single vajra motif framed by geometric borders and lotus-inspired decoration.
Hammered Singing Bowls
Hand‐hammered singing bowls are made through a complete hand‐hammering process. Each bowl is shaped and formed using traditional techniques, where metal discs are heated, stacked, and hammered by experienced artisans until they take the desired shape. This process is repeated several times to achieve the final form. As a result, each singing bowl is unique, with slight variations in size and shape that reflect the authentic craftsmanship. The alloy used consists of copper, tin, and a mixture of other metals, carefully combined to produce a rich, resonant tone. After shaping, each bowl is chiseled and polished, resulting in a durable and harmonious instrument suited for both ritual use and sound therapy.
Etching and Painting process
The deity images and decorative elements are first etched by high-powered laser and then lovingly hand-painted by skilled thanka artists, resulting in a unique, hand-finished surface.
