  • Project 1: Help in Action

Help in Action (ANBI – a Dutch public benefit organisation status) is a volunteer-run non-profit organisation, founded by T.Y.S. Lama Gangchen in 1992. This Tibetan lama healer lived in the West for many years and worked tirelessly to promote a positive mutual exchange of knowledge, skills, and humanitarian aid between East and West.

Help in Action supports communities in the Himalayan region, particularly in India and Nepal, through humanitarian projects that assist children, the elderly, the sick, people with disabilities, and monks. Direct aid is also provided in response to emergencies such as natural disasters.

  • Project 2: Food for the Poor Nepal

Food for the Poor is a project dedicated to the distribution of freshly prepared meals to people living in harsh conditions on the streets of Kathmandu. At present, a complete and nutritious meal costs just €1.50 per day. Whatever you are able to donate, it makes a real difference.

Nepal remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Although food security has improved in recent years, an estimated 4.6 million people still lack sufficient food. According to the World Food Programme, 36% of children under the age of 5 suffer from stunted growth, 27% are underweight, and 10% experience wasting as a result of malnutrition. An estimated 250,000 people are homeless, and a further 2.8 million, including many children, live in slums.

To ensure that your support reaches those who need it most, local volunteers select a different location in the city of Kathmandu each day from which meals are distributed. For people living in extreme poverty, receiving a warm meal does not only help them survive, it also offers hope — the reassurance that they are cared for and supported.

Food for the Poor is a project by Jan de Ruiter, CEO of Mani Bhadra - Phoenix Import.
