Types of wax

Beeswax

Wax has always been used in candle making. The most common is beeswax, a natural product obtained by removing the wax caps from honeycomb cells.

Different techniques can be used to extract beeswax, such as centrifugation, draining, or melting.

Centrifugation uses special machines that, when spun at high speed, separate the wax from the honeycomb. The centrifugal force separates the wax from the honey, making it easy to collect.

With draining, the wax is filtered through cotton cloths, while melting—either with dry or moist heat—using heat to release the wax.

After extraction by using one of these methods, all impurities are removed to obtain a high-quality product ready for candle making.

Using beeswax candles not only offers the advantage of a natural product, but it also ensures a long burning time and a clean flame.

Soy wax

Soy wax is completely natural and is obtained from oil extracted from soybeans. The main advantage of soy wax in candle production is sustainability, as soy is a renewable resource.

It is also biodegradable and has a low environmental impact. Since it has no natural scent, it is particularly suitable for scented candles.

Stearin

Stearin is a fatty acid derived from coconut or palm oil, making stearin candles natural products.

It is probably the most suitable material for dinner candles because it is very compact and helps candles stand upright more easily.

Stearin candles burn more slowly and produce a steady, bright flame.

In addition, stearin gives candles a more matt finish and enhances the intensity of coloured candles.

Dinner candles

Decorating a table with a candle is a common practice, since it creates a warm and romantic atmosphere. Dinner candles are usually long, cylindrical, either straight or twisted, and can be used in candlesticks.

As mentioned earlier, stearin is the most suitable material for these candles, and it also enhances their fragrance. Phoenix Import dinner candles do not drip easily, have cotton wicks, and do not produce any smoke.

Votive candles

Closely related to dinner candles are votive candles, but in a more compact form. They are larger than tealights but smaller than dinner candles. They are often decorated with images or phrases and are mainly used for religious purposes as symbols of prayer and devotion.

Archangel candles

Archangel candles are among the most sought-after votive candles. Lighting them helps connect with their energy:

-Uriel, light from heaven to earth
-Chamuel, light of trust
-Jophiel, light of equanimity
-Raphael, light of love
-Michael, light of truth
-Gabriel, light of divine wisdom
-Raziel, light of clarity

Also available in the seven-chakra version by Phoenix Import.

100-hour candles

One of the key features of a good votive candle is its burning time. Letting a 100-hour candle burn for a long period represents a true offering of light, suitable for an altar or during meditation.

Because they are designed to burn for a long time, these candles are placed in special glass containers to ensure greater safety.

Safety of Phoenix Import candles

Phoenix Import candles are eco-friendly and safe. They feature cotton wicks, a steady flame, and no smoke.

Candle holders

Many candles from Phoenix Import are already supplied in practical glass jars, with or without lids, or in elegant copper holders.

However, dinner candles and tealights require separate candle holders.

A candle holder is not only decorative but also ensures stability and prevents wax from dripping onto surfaces.

Choosing a candle holder is largely a matter of taste: the wider the selection in a store, the greater the chance for customers to find what they are looking for.

Classics include tealight holders made of salt crystal or selenite (satin spar), which not only provide light but also absorb moisture and purify the air.

Depending upon the space, you can also choose from lanterns, candle holders shaped like Buddhas, angels, hearts, or decorative oriental-style lamps.

Lotus candle holder

Among the candle holders available from Phoenix Import, lotus-shaped holders enjoy a special place. They are available in different colours and made from Capiz shell.

Their use becomes even more magical with a dedicated metal display, allowing you to create beautiful light and colour effects.
