Description

 

This silky smooth Kathag has woven-in Tibetan motifs and prayer texts.

In Tibetan Buddhism, the Kathag is used as a greeting scarf. You respect your guest by offering a Kathag (like any other gift by us Westerners). The kathag is also used as a cover for a Buddha statue or a thangka (painting), or to decorate the altar.

For Tibetans, most of these have a special spiritual or symbolic meaning, and are used as decorations for the altar, in the “Gompa” (meditation room) or at home.
