Emergency relief - Food for the Poor Nepal

On 26 August a glacier collapsed high in the Himalayas. The flood wave that followed tore through the district of Rasuwa and continued along the Trishuli through Nuwakot and Dhading. Entire villages have been wiped out. Hundreds have been confirmed dead and thousands of people are still missing.

The Food for the Poor Nepal team is working to bring emergency relief to those affected. Travelling over roads that had largely been washed away, they reached the disaster area and were able to help survivors with rice, dry food and other basic necessities.

What is needed most now is money for shelter. The rainy season has already begun. People need materials to build shelters, so that they can cook and sleep dry and safe.
